Luton Airport Information
Handling more than six million passengers a year, Luton Airport is one o f the country’s busiest air hubs. Located just north of London, Luton Airport’s single terminal operates flights to more than 60 destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean. The single terminal at London Luton Airport handles both arrivals and departures. The budget carrier EasyJet operates most of the flights, followed by other domestic airlines such as British Airways, First Choice and Thomas Cook. Several foreign carriers also service routes to a handful of European destinations.
The modern facilities at Luton Airport provide comprehensive amenities for passengers. Four currency exchange offices and several ATMs are dotted throughout the terminal as well as Travelex and postal services, which are located in Arrivals and Departures. Lost property services, baby-changing rooms and a chapel are also on hand. Four major car rental companies are on-site including Alamo, Avis and Hertz. Disabled passengers will find facilities meet with European standards, including induction loops at check-in, lowered information booths, adapted telephones and revolving doors. Luton Airport ’s original terminal building has been completely remodelled to provide passengers with ample choices for shopping and dining. Popular UK high street names such as World News, WH Smith, Dixons and Sunglass Hut are on-site and several duty-free shops can be found in the Departures Lounge. Well known restaurants such as Burger King, Starbucks, The Real Food Company and The Juice and Bagel Store provide eating options in the Departures area.
Business travellers can take advantage of free internet and fax access, newspapers and television at the Aviance Executive Lounge. Additionally, wireless internet is provided at various points throughout the terminal.
Transport and parking at Luton Airport London can be reached quickly on the Luton Flyer, a 60 minute rail service that runs to Kings Cross Station and departs the airport every 30 minutes. There is also a direct rail link with Brighton and frequent bus services run from the airport to London’s Victoria Coach Station. Passengers arriving by car from London can take the M1 and exit at Junction 10 for the airport. Taxis are also available outside the terminal, but are an expensive transport option for reaching London. There are three parking options at Luton Airport. Located directly next to the terminal, the Short-Term Car Park permits stays of up to 6 hours. The first 10 minutes are free, which makes this a preferable parking option for quick pick-ups and drop-offs. Mid-term parking is designed for stays of up to 5 days, while long-term parking offers the best rates for stays of over 5 days. Both car parks offer free shuttle service to the terminal and discounts are available with online pre-booking. All three car parks provide special designated parking for disabled drivers and they have intercom service should passengers need assistance.
